Apr18: Lacy Tunisian Shawl (Crochet)

Tunisian crochet, it's not just the afghan stitch any more! In this project you will learn new stitches to make a ribbed edging and lace that looks knitted.  You don't need to know how to knit - or crochet really - in order to create the complex looking texture and open lace found in this beautiful shawl. And best of all, this light & airy shawl is made with just one ball of Lana Grossa's Gomitolo 200 so there's no joining or extra ends to work in. We'll start with practice yarn and learn a cast-on that does not require working a long starting chain - YAY! Then we move on to the ribbing. It looks harder than it really is, trust me.  Once you are comfortable with the stitches we will cast on with the actual project yarn. Materials: 1 ball of Gomitolo 200 (700m), Size K Tunisian hook with cable, Pattern Book: Tunisian Shawls by Sharon Silverman, Crochet Hook Size K and worsted weight practice yarn. Pattern is available for purchase in the shop. Skill Level:  Advanced Beginner, must be comfortable with the Tunisian simple stitch, forward pass & close.
