APR17: Prized Summer Sweater
This versatile summer sweater is a great, wearable addition to any wardrobe. Knit in pima cotton, it has a wonderfully finished look that will add polish to your outfit! The class will discuss topics including gauge, decreasing in lace patterns, joining techniques and more!
Materials: Cascade Ultra Pima Yarn, US 4 and US 6 circular needles 32 inch or longer or size to obtain gauge, US 4 and US 6 dpn or size to obtain gauge, stitch markers, pattern. Pattern will be provided in class.
Skill Level: Intermediate, this should not be your first knitted garment
Homework:
a) Knit a Gauge Swatch by casting on 18 stitches using the US 6 needle and repeat rows 1-11 below until swatch measures 4”, bind off. Required gauge is 15 sts = 4” Adjust needle size as necessary to achieve gauge.
o Row 1: k1, [k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1] two times, k1
o Row 2 and all even rows: Purl all stitches
o Row 3: k1, [k1, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk] two times, k1
o Row 5: k1, [k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1] two times, k1
o Row 7: k1, [k1, yo, ssk, k3, k2tog, yo] two times, k1
o Row 9: k1, [k2, yo, ssk, k1, k2tog, yo, k1] two times, k1
o Row 11: k1,[k1, yo, ssk, k3, k2tog, yo] two times, k1
b) Starting the project: Cast on the appropriate number of stitches for size noted in the table above with smaller needle. Work in broken rib pattern for 7 rows.
o Row 1 and all odd rows (RS): Knit
o Row 2 and all even rows (WS): (P1, K1) until 1 st remains, P1.
